What to Expect

Each kiddo is expected to attend class with a caregiver. Our kiddos are always looking to us for how to interact in a new place, and it’s really helpful to model engaged behavior during class.

There is a lot to explore in the gallery! I work to create an engaged experience for all kiddos within our 'circle’ , so I encourage caregivers to help physically redirect kiddos to return to our circle if they wander during class time. It may feel awkward to intervene, I promise you’re not interrupting! And it’s really helpful for me so I can remain focused and engage with all the kiddos while teaching.

I love the community this class creates for caregivers and parents, however I recommend keeping adult conversations to before and after class so that we engage with our kiddos first and foremost.

If you are ever reaching for a few direct phrases to use with your toddler in a new space, when setting boundaries, here are a few age-appropriate phrases I use (with my own daughter!) and other kiddos:  "No thank you" "Beep beep back up" "Let's give space" (when they are crowding another kiddo or adult ) "Look but no touch" and of course "Great job!" and "Well done" and “Thank you for being a good listener.”  As we know, the simpler and more repetitive we can be, the better for them to take in our instructions at this age.

Classes are 45 minutes. There are usually 6 - 9 other families in the space, and you can plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early to get settled.

During our time together we’ll explore rhythm and movement through scarf play, call and response songs, instrument playing, and other activities. We’ll move our bodies, dance, use our imaginations — it’s all a little silly!

We celebrate the changing of the seasons, notice the joyful everyday moments we experience, and all kiddos are welcome to engage just a they are. You can expect to hear classic kids tunes, special pop music requests, original music, inspired improv, and songs from the Music for Sprouts classroom.
